Objective
This workshop is designed with the objective to provide basic knowledge of accounting and finance to academicians / executives / students of marketing, operations, human resources, information technology fields and entrepreneurs / self employed professionals with non-finance background. The workshop will provide a logical framework to gain an insight on various aspects of balance sheet, analysis of financial statements, budgeting, working capital and cost control to sharpen financial skills and competencies of professionals.

The role of financial and management accounting, Impact of financial & management accounting on corporate decision making, what financial statements tell you and how they link together etc.
Module II: How do you read Profit and Loss Statement?
The real value of sales, cost of goods sold value, gross profit significance, expense analysis, depreciation story and manipulation, bank interest significance, profit measurement etc.
Module III: How do you read the Balance Sheet?
What is share capital?, uses of reserve, creditors significance, proposed dividends, fixed asset composition and definition, goodwill valuation, inventory valuation and indication, debtors’ manipulation, cash indicators etc.
Module IV: Analysis of Financial Performance
Measurement of profitability, profitability guide, measure of liquidity, need of liquidity, immediate liquidity, stock ratio, debtors’ ratio, creditors ratio, subjectivity of profit etc.
Module V: Marginal Costing and Leverage
Concept of Break Even Point, Profit Planning and BEP analysis, Operating Leverage, Financial Leverage, Impact of leverage on profitability etc.
Module VI: Budget, Forecast and Variance Analysis
Preparing and reviewing operating and financial budgets, necessity for forecasting, trends in budgeting and forecasting, comparing budgeted results with corporate objectives to establish strategic and operational gaps etc.
